As we age, our face changes. Skin loses its elasticity and begins to sag in several locations. Muscular bands become more apparent. A face-lift can help restore the look of your youth by selectively cancelling out those features which signify age. The cheeks are elevated, the folds are flattened, the neck is redraped, and excess skin is removed resulting in a younger appearance.

There are several variations of face-lifts. Skin-only face-lifts were popular many years ago and are still used in select situations. Intermediate depth face-lifts achieve there at deeper levels. Deep plane face-lifts strive to achieve these changes just above the bones oft he face.

Today, it is possible to turn back the hands of time with minimal interruption to your busy life: the S-Lift is a revolutionary advancement that tightens skin in the lower portion oft the face in a minimally invasive way. The technique delivers impressive results similar to a traditional lower facelift.

The S-Lift:
Lower risk - quicker recovery
The S-Lift is designed for men and women between the ages of 40 and 70+ who want to stay ahead of the aging process. At this age, most of individuals lose elasticity in their skin and develop varying degrees of looseness along the jaw line and beneath the chin.

The Procedure
The S-Lift is an outpatient procedure that usually takes two to three hours to perform, depending the age of the patient and the degree of correction desired.

A small, relaxed „S“ shaped incision is made beginning along the sideburn, extending along the tragus oft he ear, around the earlobe and up tot he hairline toward the nape. The underlying connective tissue and facial musculature is gently lifted and tightened using a double purse-string suture technique, which immediately enhances the appearance oft he jaw line and upper neck, and makes the improvement long lasting.

Results
As illustrated in the S-Lift Photo Gallery, the results of the procedure vary with each person. Generally, the results obtained with the S-Lift are predictable and quite dramatic, sometimes erasing 10 even 15 years from one’s appearance. The S-Lift offers very natural-looking results. The S-Lift involves tightening the connective tissue layer below the skin (called the superficial musculoaponeurotic system, or SMAS), making the results long lasting.

Risks
As with any type of surgery, there are inherent risks, which can include post-operative swelling, small bleeding and visible scarring. Patients are encouraged to ask questions and discuss their concerns about the procedure with their doctor during the evaluation process.

Recovery

The S-Lift is often called a „weekend facelift“ because some people have the procedure performed on a Friday and return to work on Monday or Tuesday. Although a prescription for pain medication is provided, most patients say over-the-counter Diclofenc is all they need to alleviate any discomfort. To minimize swelling, patients are encouraged to sleep with their head elevated for the first week and to apply cold compresses the first 48 hours.
